Biography

Ramona P. Lingevitch, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 peacefully at home. She was born on June 22, 1930, in Yuba, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank D. and Frances (nee Briskey) Levy. Ramona graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended St. Mary’s Nursing School in Madison, Wisconsin. She married Joseph Lingevitch on April 22, 1961, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1971. Ramona was employed as a nurse for many years by Automatic Electric Company/GTE in Northlake, IL. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Wood Dale, IL for many years. She was a volunteer with VITAS hospice for over 25 years and she served as a minister of care at Holy Ghost, Queen of the Rosary and Casa San Carlo. Ramona is the beloved mother of Dan (Kathy) Lingevitch, Joseph (Sue) Lingevitch and Mona (Dave) Cattapan; Devoted grandmother of Matt Sheffert, Rachel (Brad) Orr, Rebekah Lingevitch, Ruth Lingevitch, Emily Cattapan, Andrew Cattapan, James Cattapan, Jack Cattapan; Cherished aunt of David (Sharon) Rosol and Jane (Kenneth) Deckert. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Evelyn (Curt) Peterson, Elsie (William) McWilliams and Julia (Lloyd) Rosol. Visitation Saturday, April 17th from 9 a.m. until time of funeral, 10:30 a.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca IL. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, attendance at the visitation will be limited to 50 people at a time, social distancing and face masks are required. An 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament (Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church), 750 W. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village, will be celebrated by Father Louis Mboe. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in River Grove. In lieu of flowers memorials may be gifted in Ramona’s name to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or Rainbow Hospice.
