Biography

Paul N. Hasselquist passed away July 27, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Nancy nee Peterson; Loving father of Paul Jr. (Sue), Tary (Larry Wagner) Dorwaldt, Dorothy (Fred) Aguayo and Steven (Sandy Scordas); Paul was dearly loved by his 8 grandchildren: Nicole (Bob) Oczkowicz, Jeremy Bezroukoff, Emily (Brandon) Eichmeier, Alicia (Mike Delise), Jennifer (Pat) Blair, Marissa (Harry) Sawyer, Rachel (Ben Schissel) & Katie Dorwaldt. Korean War US Navy Veteran. Retired 28 year employee of Illinois Bell. Services were private. Paul was also a P/T officer & charter member with the Elk Grove Police Department's very first force, & then Schaumburg P.D. during the 60’s. In his many years with Ma Bell his ambition & dedication took him up the ladder from installing telephone lines at O’Hare Airport during it’s construction, up to N.IL District Supervisor. After his early retirement from IL Bell, he started his own phone install/ repair business. He also flew mosquito abatement helicopters for Clark Oil, even flying over Central Park in NYC during the West Nile crisis. In 1990 he became a security guard for Alexian Bros. Hospital, & later a Transport van driver, retiring in 2004. Paul had a brave, adventurous spirit. Even in recent years he went hang-gliding, jet-skiing, 4 wheeling, target shooting, & riding a Harley. Nancy & Paul loved traveling especially to warm, tropical locations. They spent many winters in Ft.Myers Florida. Paul was active in IL Bell’s Pioneer Club for many years. He was active in charitable & volunteer work, even visiting at the Veteran’s Hospital, & Ronald McDonald House just last year.
