Joseph C. Halac, age 83 of Itasca, IL, passed away peacefully in his home on February 12, 2025. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Mann) for 55 years; Loving father of Melissa (Brian) Shields of LaGrange, IL, and Joelle (Matthew) Kellam of Elmhurst, IL; Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Kate, John, William, and Adam; Dear brother of Paul (Kris) of Estes Park, CO and Westchester, IL. A graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School, Joe completed his education there in 1959. He then attended the University of Illinois, where he graduated in 1963. His commitment to the community and education led him to serve as a teacher and administrator in District 45 in Villa Park for 30 years, impacting the lives of countless students and faculty members along the way. Joe was not only an educator but also an avid golfer, a passionate sports enthusiast and a gifted athlete. Just about any sport he tried seemed easy for him. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, which remained a defining aspect of his personality, bringing joy and camaraderie to the many friends and family members who shared his enthusiasm for the Cubbies. He excelled at carpentry (if he saw it he could make it) and enjoyed music, photography and playing cards.
