Biography

Janet Scoles, age 76, was diagnosed with brain cancer on March 23 and died 11 days later in hospice care in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, surrounded by her family. She knew she was heaven bound, and her faith and family were the loves of her life. Janet was blessed with a joyful spirit, endless optimism, and a thoughtfulness which brought love and comfort to others. She enjoyed traveling, nurturing relationships, volunteering, and being an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Itasca for over forty years. Her smile could brighten any day, and those who knew her were blessed. Janet is survived by her husband Richard Scoles of Wood Dale, Illinois; sons Daniel and Jonathan (Karen) of Roselle, Illinois, and daughter Jennifer (John Mital) of Coal Valley, Illinois; five grandchildren Caleb, Thomas, Sawyer, Faith, and Madison, and her sister Judith Grove (Joseph) of Watertown, Wisconsin. Preceding her in death were her parents, Dorothy and Reamer Johnson of Chicago, Illinois. A church service will take place at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Itasca, Illinois, on Saturday, April 9th at 10:30am, followed by burial at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Itasca, Illinois, or AMITA Health Hospice Care Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
