Biography

George Michael Kveck, 78, a resident of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, passed on January 23, 2022. George Kveck was born on September 15, 1943 in Chicago, son of George and Violet (Blazek) Kveck. He grew up in Berwyn, Illinois, close to his grandparents who helped care for him while George Sr. served in WWII and his large family of aunts, uncles and cousins (Violet had 11 siblings). After high school, George enlisted in the US Army and served his country stationed in Korea. When he returned, he met and was united in marriage to the love of his life Maryanne Weyer on September 2, 1967. In 1975, George and Maryanne moved to Elk Grove Village, where they raised their children Wendy and Doug. George worked at State Farm Insurance for 40 years where he cultivated lifelong friendships. In his retirement, he and Maryanne traveled, doted on their grandchildren, and continued to be active in their church where George was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lector for 30 years. Patient and persistent, George was an avid White Sox fan and a dedicated runner. In his fifties, he took up running and ran several marathons, and later in life he loved to play golf with his friends, his son, and grandchildren. He never caught the “big one,” but he cherished his time on his parents’ lake in Wisconsin fishing with his father, brother, nephew, and son. He also enjoyed playing the odds at the racetrack and in Las Vegas when he visited his daughter and son-in-law. Those left to honor his memory include his wife Maryanne; their two children and spouses Wendy and Michael Shetler and George Douglas "Doug" and Jenny Kveck; their two grandchildren George Chase and Vivian Rose Kveck; his brother Ronald and Marylou Kveck; his mother Violet; his godchildren Annie Hathaway and Robert Reynolds; and his many nieces and nephews. George’s life was devoted to his family and friends, his faith, and his service to his church and community. May the warmth and love of his smile and spirit live in our hearts forever.
