Biography

Edward S. Posen, 84, son of the late Stanley and Evelyn (nee Lukasiewicz) Posen; loving husband of Sharon (nee Lyng) for 62 wonderful years; father of Kevin (Bernadette), Christine (the late Mike) Finnegan, Diane and the late Mary Kay (Baljit) Posen-Saini; best friend and brother in-law of Michael (the late Linda) Lyng; grandfather to Melissa (Daniel) Haas, Andrew and Matthew Posen, Michael, Brian and Lauren Finnegan, Veer and Noor Saini, and Navpreet (nee Saini) Conn; great grandfather of Caleb and Myles Haas. Uncle to Michael Jr. (Emmie), Nicole and David Lyng; great uncle to Mia and Kylie Lyng. Father in-law to Baljit (Harpreet) Saini. Son in-law of the late Myles and Alice (nee Michael) Lyng. Edward was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago, where he lived until 1987 when he and the family moved to Medinah, Illinois. Edward attended Lane Technical High School and the University of Illinois at Champaign, after which he served as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Later he began his life long career as an Architectural/Mechanical Engineer. He finished out his career as the Project Manager of the major expansion of his church. Edward is remembered by many for shaping the development of youth through his many years of dedication to the scouting program as a Scoutmaster. His legacy will live on among those he coached in scouting and sports, and through the inspiration he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Visitation Sunday, July 10th 3:00 - 8:00 pm at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Family and friends will meet Monday, July 11th at Jubilee Bible Church 900 Foster Avenue, Medinah for a Visitation from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Service, 11:00 am. Interment Saint Michael the Archangel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Edward S. Posen to: Jubilee Bible Church-Medinah or The Owasippe Staff Association.
