Diane Beverly Hegstrom age 96, of Itasca, Il. Beloved wife of the late Richard G. Hegstrom; Loving mother of Craig R. (Renee) and Julie (Tom) Nosal; Cherished grandmother of Anne Marie (Bryan) Walsh, Richard (Stacey Reed) Hegstrom, Allison Nosal, Scott (Nora) Hegstrom, Ed (Angie) Nosal, and Jessica D. (Rick) Wright; Adoring great grandmother of Anthony, Oliver, Ricky, Quinn, and Wesley. Dear sister of the late Donna (the late Jack) and dear sister-in-law of the late Beverly (the late Mel), the late David, and the late Jim. Fond aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Diane (Donatell) was born and raised in Spooner, WI attended Spooner HS and then Superior State College. Here she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Hegstrom. The two were married on 6/2/1951 and reaffirmed their vows on their 25th anniversary. The couple purchased their home in 1963 in Itasca, IL where they raised their family. Diane was an elementary teacher at Washington School in Itasca for over 30 years; where she taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. After teaching she worked for ten years at Nextel Communications. She was also a pillar of her community and very supportive of her town and church. As a devout Christian and member of St Luke, she served on various boards, committees, and sang in the choir. She loved to sing and dance and introduced her children and grandchildren to theatre and other cultural events. Diane also loved her sports and belonged to multiple bridge and bunco groups. She was a friend to many “Angels.” A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 3:00-8:00 pm at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. Family and friends will meet Saturday, May 3rd at The Lutheran Church of St. Luke, 410 S. Rush Street, Itasca for a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Interment private.
