Catherine Borowski went home to the Lord on September 21, 2020. Waiting for her there were her parents Joseph and Gizela Myszkowski and brothers, Roman and Walter. Catherine demonstrated her strength and resiliency early in life by surviving World war II which ravaged her birthplace of Kamionka, Poland. In 1949, already a U.S. citizen, she crossed the Atlantic by ship and began a new life in Chicago, Illinois. As a strong willed teenager, she forged her independence by settling into her own apartment in Logan Square. Like so many immigrants, she worked hard for a living and while playing on North Avenue beach met her one true love, Ted Borowski who became her husband of 67 years. Together they envisioned and realized the American dream, working hard and together to raise their three children, Richard, Theresa (Jose) Flores and Chester (Julie). Catherine made every home she lived in a place filled with love, laughter, faith and good food. Easter, Christmas and birthdays will not be the same without her. Catherine is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren, Nicole Flores (Nate) Hoks, Eric (Kristen) Flores and Hannah Borowski. Catherine loved her great grandchildren, Milo, Teddy, Leo, Roshina and Mariana. They will remember her. Visitation Friday , September 25th, 8:30 am until time of funeral, 10:15 am at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E. Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca to Divine Mercy Polish Parish. Mass 11:00 am.
