Biography

Barbara Ulrika Andino (nee Nickisch) was born in Leipzig, Germany on July 24, 1951. Formerly of Arlington Heights and Round Lake Beach IL, Barbara passed away on June 29, 2022, after a long battle with lung cancer. Visitations and a memorial service will be held at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 Irving Park Rd., Itasca, IL 60143 on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 3-8pm. Barbara and her parents, Wolfgang and Antonie Nickisch along with her siblings, Reinhard and Jutta (Judy) Nickisch emigrated to the United States in February of 1958 arriving in Chicago later that month. After attending Burley and Amundsen HS in Chicago, Barbara attended UIC and interned at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Cytology. Later in her life, Barbara was an important member of the IL Bone & Joint Institute in Arlington Heights where she served as receptionist and administrative support personnel. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Elaine Andino and Celina (Michael) McIntyre and her son, Eric (Amanda) Andino; her grandchildren, Brianna McIntyre, Patrick McIntyre, Matthew McIntyre, and Vivienne Andino.
